Time: 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM ET
Location: AT&T Forum
Address: 601 New Jersey Ave NW, Washington, DC 20001
Event Description:
With the rise of anti-Asian hate and attacks on Asian women, it's important now more than ever for us to build the capacity to handle the stress and uncertainty as we navigate everyday life. That's why OCA-Asian Pacific American Advocates is hosting a MENTAL FITNESS WORKSHOP for AAPI women and allies on Saturday, October 15th from 1-5 PM ET at the AT&T Forum in Washington, DC. In this interactive workshop, Life Transformation and Mental Fitness coach, Amy Yip will teach you how you can strengthen your mental fitness and help you shift from merely surviving to thriving.
If you're physically fit, you'd be able to climb a steep hill without much physical stress. The same goes for mental fitness. The more mentally fit you are, the more you'll be able to handle the stress, anxiety, and frustrations that come from personal life challenges, such as:
Stress from work or school
Relationship conflicts (personal and professional)
Uncertainty
Leading through change
Your level of mental fitness is the best predictor of how happy you are and how well you perform relative to your potential. The good news is that, just like physical fitness, you can boost your Mental Fitness significantly with practice.
During this interactive workshop, we will unpack:
What mental fitness is and why it matters
How you tend to self-sabotage with Saboteurs like the Judge, the Hyper-Rational, the Controller, the Hyper-Achiever, the Pleaser and 5 others
The 3 core muscles at the root of mental fitness
Deep dive into the lies and impacts of our Saboteurs (and the Saboteurs of others)
Strategies and practices for facing your Saboteurs and building your mental muscles
This event is free to attend but registration is required. RSVP at www.eventbrite.com/e/building-mental-fitness-workshop-tickets-428345642347
Light refreshments and snacks will be provided. Attendees are required to wear face masks at all times except while actively eating, drinking, or taking photos.
This program is possible thanks to the generous support of AT&T, UPS, and Walmart.
About the speaker:
Amy Yip is a Life Transformation and Mental Fitness coach who works with AAPI women to let go of the ‘shoulds’, the guilt, and the external pressures so they can be the author of their own life story (because if you don’t tell your story, someone else will). After 16+ years of building and leading global teams in organizations like Google, Clorox, and Booz Allen, Amy left the corporate world in January 2020, sold all her belongings in her NYC apartment, and took a 1-way flight to Ghana with her husband to volunteer at a breast cancer non-profit. The plan was to volunteer then travel the world, but COVID changed those plans and she ended up stuck in Ghana for 7 months.
One of her greatest learnings on her life journey so far is that: Your mindset, NOT your circumstance, makes all the difference in your happiness and success.
Amy is an International Coach Federation (ICF) Professional Certified Coach (PCC) and Certified Hudson Institute Coach. She is also one of the pioneer Mental Fitness Coaches to be certified through Positive Intelligence. She has coached a range of clients from executives to new leaders and individual contributors on finding their voice and the courage to speak up, building self-confidence, navigating change, discovering what they want next in their life and career, and identifying their authentic leadership style.
She holds an MBA from Anderson UCLA, and a BS in Computer Science and BA in Communications from University of Maryland.
