Washington, D.C. OCA - Asian Pacific American Advocates issued the following statement:

We vehemently condemn the brutal and senseless murder of a 6-year-old boy as well as the stabbing of his mother by their landlord in Illinois. These heinous acts were motivated by hatred, bigotry, and anti-Muslim sentiments.

We urge Americans to respect the rich diversity of Muslim and Jewish American communities across the United States. Leaders must refrain from engaging in any anti-Muslim, antisemitic, or other xenophobic rhetoric or actions that perpetuate hate. In solidarity, we stand with our fellow Americans who are facing discrimination and harassment based on their faith, ethnicity or cultural heritage and background.
