OCA Asian Pacific American Advocates releases the following statement after multiple sources declared former Vice President Joe Biden as the winner of the 2020 presidential election:

On November 3rd, voters (including Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders and others from marginalized communities) across the country turned out in historic numbers to make their voices heard. In a year like no other, we proved our voices matter, and now we will be united in moving forward together.

We have made history this year, with Vice President-Elect Kamala Harris being the first female elected into this position of power. She will also be the first Black and Indian American woman to become Vice President.

OCA will work tirelessly to hold our government and its leaders accountable, and we will continue to advocate for policies that make America equitable and inclusive. The Biden administration and Congress must move immediately to tackle the COVID-19 pandemic, address the rise in anti-Asian hate crimes, protect immigrants, support BIPOC communities, and ensure that all of us can thrive together.

OCA – Asian Pacific American Advocates is a national civil rights organization dedicated to improving the social, political, and economic well-being of Asian American and Pacific Islanders (AAPIs).
