OCA-Greater Chicago chapter is offering four scholarships for the upcoming year. All scholarships are worth $2,500 and there are 2 scholarships available for each category.

Chung Yan Mui Family Scholarship
Like many immigrants, Chung Yan Mui brought his family to the United States in 1969 with little more than the dream of carving out a better life for his family. Through hard work, grim determination, and an abiding appreciation in the uplifting power of education, he set them on such a course. This scholarship fund, established in his name, helps others making similar journeys. The Chung Yan Mui scholarship makes a one-year, $2,500 award towards undergraduate college tuition. Alex and Kitty Pon Scholarship
Established in 1982 and through collective efforts with their global partners, Alex and Kitty Pon of PACTRANS Air & Sea, Inc. has become a leader in the freight forwarding industry. PACTRANS is both an IATA (International Air Transportation Association) agent and an NVOCC (non-vessel operating common carrier). They would like to give back to the community by offering Asian American students the opportunity to obtain their education and develop their leadership skills so they can realize their full potential. Must intend to study supply chain, logistics, or transportation
Cycle of Success Institute Young Entrepreneur Scholarship
Cycle of Success Institute (COSi) was founded in 2001 by John Mautner. COSi is the first business school of its type in the nation. COSi grows businesses that grow communities. Small and Midsized companies enroll in a 12 month training program that turns their companies into profitable high grow businesses. The Cycle of Success Institute young entreperneur scholarship is a one-year, $2,500 award given to a high school student to use for undergraduate tuition. Must have a business plan to launch a new venture
AAGolf Foundation Scholarship
AAGolf Foundation is dedicated to increasing awareness of the Asian and Asian
American golf communities. We use the universal language of golf to build an
international golf community, providing networking opportunities and supporting
Asian‐related golf events. We are committed to developing younger players,
equipping them with resources and educational opportunities and enhancing their
skills and passion for the game. Must be a member of high school or club golf team
Eligibility
Applicants must:
- Be a permanent resident of the Chicagoland area. Eligible counties include Cook, Dekalk, DuPage, Grundy, Kane, Kendall, McHenry, Will, Lake (IL), Kenosha (WI).
- Be a current APA high school senior entering their first year of college in the upcoming Fall 2010 Semester / Quarter
- Demonstrate financial need
- Be a permanent resident or U.S. citizen
- Have a cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.0 or above (on a 4.0 scale)
- Strong history and intent of community service
Required Documents
- Completed application
- Résumé (in required format)
- Unofficial high school transcript
- Acceptance Letter to the college/university that you intend to enroll
- Print-out of total one-year cost of attending college or university
- Print-out of Student Aid Report (SAR)
- Sealed recommendation letter from a teacher or community member. Students applying for the AAGolf Foundation Scholarship MUST submit a letter of recommendation from their golf coach.
- Statement of financial need (please find instructions on page 7)
