The Bill’s Achievements
With funding for AANAPISIs underway for over three successful
years, grant recipients report their mission statements as
follows:
City College
of San Francisco (California)
- Increase participation of
Filipino and other underrepresented students in Science, Technology,
Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) majors by 20%
- Enhance communication among STEM
department to reduce time to complete program and improve transfer rates by 5%
- Improve pass rates in STEM majors
by 15% through comprehensive support services
Foothill-DeAnze Community College
(California)
- Expand Summer
Bridge to include more
targeted AAPI students
- Introduce break-out sessions with Asian language
translation to New Student and Parent Open House
- Pilot New Student Intake Protocal, a program that
connects incoming students with counseling and campus services based on
individual needs

ethnic-specific courses.
- Increase AAST minor enrollment from zero in 2008 to over
eighty in 2009 and graduated sixteen AAST minors this year
